Summer Weekend Getaway Essentials

I am looking into a weekend getaway for my birthday this year. I am beyond excited about the idea of having some time to simply be. As I’m in the process of looking for a place to stay I realized that I haven’t taken more than one day off in a row in over two years. I will admit that I am already thinking it might be hard to leave my laptop at home and not do any type of work. What if the inspiration strikes and I’m eager to write something?

Anyway other than the dilemma to bring technology or not to bring technology I am hoping to pack everything into one beach bag. These are my summer weekend getaway essentials:

1. Coconut oil

I love to use coconut oil as a body lotion as well as on my lips and in my hair for hydration. This coconut oil is great for weekend getaways because of it’s compact size.

2. A good book…or two

Carl Jung’s book The Psychology of Kundalini Yoga and Viktor E. Frankl’s Man’s Search for Meaning have been on my bookshelf for a while. I can’t wait to dive into these books.

3. Infusion water bottle

It’s easy to stay hydrated with this BPA-free infusion water bottle. I like to add a mix of lemon and raspberry to my water.

4. Giant towel for the beach

Last summer I saw this watermelon beach towel that started my obsession with watermelon summer wear. This circular towel is great because it’s multipurpose, you can use it as an improv yoga mat, towel, or blanket.

5. Cooler

I love this watermelon cooler bag! It’s a must at the beach because it keeps your drinks and snacks cool and it’s also super cute. Plus it matches the watermelon towel.

6. Light weight scarf

Typically I have a big lightweight scarf or a sundress (or both) with me at the beach. This way if I feel like I got too much sun I can cover up without getting too hot.

7. Bathing suit

Of course a bathing suit is absolutely essential for a summer weekend getaway such as this eco-friendly anti-wrinkle bathing suit.

8. Comfortable flip flops

I am obsessed with Havaianas flip flops. My feet get blisters so easily from shoes and these are the only flip flops that have never given me blisters. They come in a range of colours but usually I stick with gold.

9. Sunglasses

Be sure to keep your eyes protected in the sun! I have been eyeing these aviator Ray-Ban sunglasses for my next pair.
